Assembly & Care Guide: Clare Dining Chair

Updated: Feb 15

Assembling a new chair is often viewed as an overwhelming and time-consuming task, but we've kept it simple with the Clare Dining Chair from East & Vine. Assembly can be one with one person, but two are recommended.

We created a video to help you out with assembly. Follow along with each step, and reference the PDF and images below if you need additional visuals.

Step 1: Remove all contents from Carton

Make sure not to discard packing materials until chair assembly is complete, to ensure all required parts are included and not mistakenly thrown out.

Chair back with rear legs attached (x2)

Chair seat (x2)

Front legs, 2 for each chair (4 total)

Slipcover (x2)

Hardware kit containing 9 bolts and 1 Allen wrench (x2)

Document package containing printed instructions, safety warning, and hang tag (x2)

Step 2: Prepare to attach chair seat to back

You'll need the chair back, chair seat, plus 1 short bolt, 4 long bolts, and the Allen wrench (included)

Step 3: Bolt the chair seat to the chair back

Ensure the center hole on the chair seat is aligned with the center hole in the seat back. This is where the short bolt will be installed.

In the remaining 4 holes, install 4 of the 8 provided long bolts.

Important: Do not fully tighten the bolts at this step -- all bolts will be tightened once the remaining legs are added and the chair is in an upright position.

Step 4: Prepare to attach front legs

Components needed: Chair seat, 2 Front legs

Hardware needed: the remaining 4 long bolts, Allen wrench

Step 5: Install the front legs

Insert the front legs as shown above - Ensure that the smooth sides of the legs face inward towards the center of the chair, and the sides cut with an overhang face outward away from the chair.

Step 6: Install bolts to the front legs

Install all 4 bolts, but do not fully tighten.

Step 7: Place the chair upright to allow legs to settle into place

Place downward pressure on the chair seat so that the legs settle into place. This will help to ensure all legs are level with the ground.

Step 8: Fully tighten all 9 bolts in the chair seat

Once assembly is complete, you have the option to steam your slipcovers to remove any wrinkles.

Finally, apply the slipcover!

Tips:

Try to keep the slipcover straight as you slide it down the chair back

Use clean hands or gloves

Remove cardboard from slipcover before applying to chair

Once applied, make sure to steam outside and under the slipcovers

You're done!

Position your new dining chairs in their perfect spot, then enjoy!
